SATEXAS, known for years as the best provider for new users and having a very easy and understable system, has written a menu specifically designed for automating the hard tasks of Eggdrop Bots.

This menu is written 100% for SATEXAS by SATEXAS custom to our servers. Below we outline some of the functions of this menu, which we playfully call The Magic Menu.

NOTE : To access this menu, simply telnet in and type 'menu' at the Unix prompt.

   I.   Internal Bot

This selection will install SATEXAS's internal bot into your account. This bot is pre-compiled, and everything is done for you but creating the config file. The source code for this bot is actually contained inside the SATEXAS server, so you start this bot with a unique startup - 'bot'.

  1. This bot is NOT altered. No hampering has been done.
  2. This bot is generally a few versions behind the current bot.

We don't hurry the upgrade of the Internal bot because we have over 300 users using it. We upgrade it very slowly and wait for all the patches and we time-test it. Usually we are about 3-5 versions behind. We prefer stability, reliability, and a good solid bot over being cool.

   II.   Pre-Compiled Bot

Here you will find a variety of versions of bots available, all precompiled for you. What exactly does this mean?

  1. The bot *.tar.gz file is put into your account.
  2. The *.tar.gz file is unpacked and unzipped.
  3. The bot is then compiled for you.
  4. The messy now non-critical source code is cleaned.
That is all that is done for you. Like the internal bot, we don't hamper or alter the bots themselves, these are compiled for you, just as you would do it yourself (the hard way).

   III.   Auto Config

This is absolutely one of the slickest things on the menu.

One of the larger pains of bot ownership and creating a new bot is editing and configuring your bots config file with all the necessary settings and configurations.

Well say goodbye to that! With this selection, you answer some basic questions, and a config file is made for you, and put right into your account! Even your existing one is saved and date-stamped for your protection!

   IV.   TCL Converter

Depending on the version of bot you are using, it can be very important what version of TCL your account is configured for. By default, SATEXAS accounts come with v7.6. You will find however, that all bots v1.4.3 and higher require v8.2 of TCL and higher to be more stable. This selection will tell you what your current TCL version is, and give you the option to change it.

This program supports both Internal, PreCompiled and self-custom bots.

   V.   Install CronTab

Holy cow! Your kidding?!

Actually, no. One of the largest "pains in the butt" is now an automatic process! Select this item, answer a few questions, and we'll install Crontab automatically into your account!

You can find information and tech support on CRONTAB in our Eggdrop Support section.

This program supports both Internal, PreCompiled and self-custom bots.

   VI.   Install TCL's

Here we give you a selection of various common and popular TCL scrips, and plop them into your account, and edit your config file for you to include them. Pretty cool.

   VII.   Bot Backup & Restore

This is something that has become a life-saver to many customers, and although it is popular, we wish more users would use it.

This will both archive and restore your bot to and from an archive file, including datestamp for easy organization. Once this program is used to save your bot, you can then FTP the file home to your hard drive for safety and storage.

   VIII.   Language Fix

Some of our users experience a funky error with their internal bot, and see a "MSG###" type message come from their bots other than the correct messages. We have added this function so that you can re-install the language pack to fix this type error.

   IX.   Install Web

All accounts come with a free web page. This will do the following for you :

  1. Make a web directory inside of your account.
  2. Fix the permissions on your account so others can see your web page.
  3. Install a sample web page for you, to help you get started.

   X.   Dos Converter

This selection will convert DOS files imbedded with carriage returns (^M) in them to a pure UNIX format. Various editors in DOS leave these characters behind (although in windows you don't see them), but show up in Unix. Unix translates these as an actual special character, and causes havoc on some tasks, like scripting.

This program will convert files both ways, unix to dos format, and vise-versa.
