This guide will walk you through the setup and instructions for configuring your PC to dial-up SATEXAS and connect using the standard PPP Connection.
REQUIREMENTS
- A SATEXAS Account
- A printout of our "Configuration Settings" support page
- Windows NT v4.x Installed (And possibly the CD on-hand)
- Dial-UP Networking Installed
If you do not see the dial-up networking icons that we refer to in your My Computer group, you will need to go to the control panel, click on Add/Remove Programs and select it in Windows Setup.
I. Configure Networking
- Close all current running applications.
- Double-click on the 'Start | Programs | Accessories | Dial-Up Networking.
- You will now add an entry to the phonebook. Click 'Ok'.
- Under "Phonebook Entry", chose a name, like 'SATEXAS'.
Check the box that says you know about phonebook entries, and click 'Finish'.
- In the Phone Number field, enter our phone number (found on the Configuration Settings sheet you printed out.
Click 'Next'.
- On the tab/folder that says 'Server', click once.
- Dial-up server type should be 'PPP: Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus, Internet.'.
- Under 'Network Protocols', TCP/IP, enable software compression and enable PPP LCP extensions should be the only ones checked.
- Click once on 'TCP/IP Settings'
- Server assigned IP Address should be checked at the top.
- Specify name server addresses should be entered in the middle, and filled out as they appear on our PC Configuration Settings sheet.
- Both Use IP Header Compression and Use Default Gateway On Remote Network should both be checked.
- Click once on 'OK'.
- Click once on the script tag at the top and verify it is set to 'None'.
- Click once on the security tab at the top, and verify it is set to Accept any authentication including clear text only.
- Click on 'More' then 'Create shortcut to entry', which will create a shortcut on your desktop.
- Click once on 'OK'.
- Close all windows. Configuration complete.
II. Connecting to SATEXAS
- Double-Click on the Icon we created on your Desktop.
- Enter your login name and password, the ones you signed up with (all lowercase).
- Verify that the phone number shown is the correct one.
